Day 1

Begin your drive early in the morning at 5:00am. The drive is splendid as you will come across picturesque sunflower farms, tiny villages and breathtaking view as you climb up to an altitude of 8000 ft above sea level. You will also get to spot some wildlife as you drive through the national parks of Bandipur and Mudumalai. The most likely candidates are Spotted Deer, Nilgiri Langurs, Bisons, Mountain Squirrels and Elephants and so on. If you are still lucky you would spot a herd of elephants crossing the road. Consider it as a jackpot if you happen to see a Tiger or even a Leopard, as they are very shy of human presence.

The drive will take approximately 6-7 hours. You can check-in at the farmhouse at approximately 12 noon. If you would like to have lunch at the farmhouse, please call in advance as preparation time takes approximately 1 hour (lunch cost is not included in the package cost). Alternatively, you can stop by at Gudalur check post where you have restaurants serving simple meals. Apex Restaurant serves simple and cheap meals ( Rs 50-100 a dish). The toilets are clean and good for a quick stop.

Post lunch you can relax in the cottages which are aesthetically designed to a ‘Village’ set to blend in to the destination. The cottages rest on acres of greenery to enjoy a dimensional view of serene nature. The all day chill weather will make you want to cuddle under the blanket for a good siesta.

The local inhabitants are all farmers and its surroundings are plentiful in various types of vegetations. You can take a walk through the mushy farms to see vegetations – carrots, radish, cauliflower and potatoes are grown. The locals survive on the crops they grow. The existing soil on the mountains and valleys provide plentiful vegetation which enroots the crops to its abundant growth due to tropical weather. The villagers may even allow you to pick some fresh carrots and other veggies.

An evening trek before sunset through the tea plantation and further into the forest is a must. Ascend to an 860 feet trekking peak and you will relish the comeback of your stamina. For refreshment and relaxation, a tribal hut has been constructed midway. The victory of the conquest will lead you to the dense forest, housing sprinkling waterfalls and endangered wildlife species. The forest shares an imaginary border to the ‘Silent Valley hills’.

If the weather permits you can bring in the night with a camp fire. Live barbeque can be arranged at an additional cost (RS 200 per skewer). After a entire day in the chill weather you will need all the warmth you can get from the camp fire. You will be served exclusive Indian cuisine that is as diverse as the Indian Subcontinent in the dinner room which is as aesthetically designed as the rest of the ‘Village’ set. Though a buffet is laid, you may be asked for your choice of cuisine prior to preparation. It is recommended to opt for South Indian cuisine.Alcohol is not served at the farmhouse and is not encouraged as it may hurt the sentiments of the other guest. You can choose to laze around the fire, laze on the hammocks or jam it up with Karaoke music and some dance.
